Ship carrying oil goes down off Chalong Bay

A ship transporting 40,000 litres of diesel oil yesterday sank some 10 nautical miles off Phuket’s Chalong Bay amid heavy rain and four-metre-high waves but crew members were saved by another ship sailing beside it. The scene remained inaccessible at press time due to the rough seas and weather.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index on Tuesday lost 2.26 points or 0.28 per cent to close at 817.35 points. The market value was 25.96 billion baht, with 5.17 billion shares traded.

Bangkok’s newest performing-arts venue, the Nakarin Theatre on Sri Nakharin Road, had its soft opening over the weekend, with singer-drummer Tik Shiro and violinist Kyle Dillingham playing their East-meets-West “musical battle”. But it was a hard landing for Dillingham.
