Niche Cars, the official Lotus importer for Thailand, has held a special exhibition to commemorate the return of the famous Lotus name into the F1 arena this year, sixteen years after the team vanished from the grand prix tracks, presenting a production line-up of the high-performance British sports cars in the shiny confines of Bangkoks glitzy city centre mall, Siam Paragon. From the brands bread-and-butter Elise and Exige, to the mid-engined Evora, the spiritual successor to the legendary Esprit, and the dramatic 2-Eleven, a potent-looking stripped out track racer, the array of machines that currently wear the famous round yellow-and-green badge were all on show where they could be seen over a long weekend by thousands of shoppers. As well a Lotus, Niche Cars is also the official distributor into Thailand for Italian supercar maker Lamborghini and another prestigious and storied British brand, this time Aston Martin. The importer has a strong association already with the Siam Paragon mall, as on the third floor it has a string of boutiques dedicated to these three sports car marques. Siam Paragon and its close neighbor on Rama I Road, centralworld vie with each other to be the citys number one shopping complex; the former probably edges it in the upmarket stakes and is encrusted with globally-recognised designer names, making it the perfect place for both an exclusive car boutique and to present an exhibition to help develop awareness of the Lotus brand name here.
